Great Fen Tree Party – Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd February

On Wednesday 21st February, families of all ages are invited to our Great Fen Tree Party! You’ll be improving the site for wildlife by planting many different varieties of trees around the reserve. There will be tree-themed crafts available for the children too and stories to enjoy. The mud kitchen will be set up and the den areas are waiting for your climbing and shelter-building skills.

On Thursday 22nd February, you’ll continue with your planting, but the day will be designed more for our adult volunteers. Families are still welcome to come if you missed Wednesday and still want to help, but they won’t have the same additional activities available.

Bring a spade, if you have one, and gardening gloves. Dress prepared to get muddy and with wellies or walking boots if possible. Refreshments are provided on both days. Donations are appreciated to help cover costs.

Arrive any time between 10.30-2 pm. Activities will be packed away at 2.30 pm. Pre-booking is advisable.

Family Bird Box Building – Friday 23rd February

Get hands-on with a craft that’s perfect for all ages as you and your family create cosy homes for our feathered friends. Experienced guides will be on hand to assist as you craft your very own wooden bird boxes using simple hand tools. Each group will receive a kit of parts for their bird box upon arrival, and adults are kindly asked to supervise children using hammers and nails.

There will be a bird box kit provided for each ticket purchased. If you and your family would like to make multiple bird boxes you will need to buy as many tickets.

The event takes place under a large shelter, but remember to dress for the weather and embrace a bit of mud as you walk through the woods from the car park to the workshop. Fear not, though, as a warm fire awaits you in the workshop with a kettle ready to supply everyone with tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. It’s a family-friendly event filled with crafting, nature, and warm beverages.
