Property Market Update: July 2021
July 1, 2021

As we move into July with the initial stamp duty holiday now ended, most solicitors and conveyancing companies across the country no doubt heave a sigh of relief.

Although the stamp duty holiday certainly boosted demand in the housing market, buyers remain active signalling that the once-in-a-generation reassessment of homes has further to run this year.

Since the beginning of the year demand for homes increased 26%, yet during the same period flow of properties coming to the market decreased by 2% compared to the same period in 2020.

Although initial predictions suggested the housing market would see a downturn in activity after the end of June, early indications show there is still a good supply of active buyers, adding weight to the theory that there was more than the stamp duty holiday fuelling the surge in house buying throughout the country.
