Headliner: Ayla XO
June 1, 2024
This month we chat with Ayla Boswell, aka “Ayla XO”, the 20-year-old Hispanic singer-songwriter.

When did you start making music?

I started making music professionally a year ago, albeit I’ve been writing my own material since the age of 15. As a child I was always known to be singing and dancing; it’s been my passion since day one. It was always clear to me that being a singer was the career path I wanted, no matter how challenging it may turn out to be.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

My biggest inspiration has always been Amy Winehouse, although my music is wildly different from hers. I have a deep love for jazz and lyrically intelligent stories within music. Like Amy, I consider myself a solid songwriter. Her grittiness is something I value deeply.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on creating an image for myself and putting my own music out to the world. My debut single “2001” releases on the 31st of May, so by the time you get to read this article, it will be “out” and I’m so excited! The inspiration for “2001” is drawn from going out in the early 2000’s and is rooted in nostalgia. It’s a throwback song to the nightlife that transpired within that time.

What are your future plans?

As for the future, I’ll continue with my busy schedule of balancing my regular live performances (thanks Mum & Dad for your unwavering support!); and working with my music producers in both the London and Braughing recording studios. My music is my passion, and I can’t wait for my career to develop further.

Here’s a link to my debut single “2001” which is on all mobile streaming platforms! I hope you enjoy!
